Treat yourself to a very special Spanish night out, dress up to blend in! The bars and cafes will be abuzz after the show. Please don’t drink and drive.) Address is Av. NOTICE!
Submissions for posting in sections below
must be signed like this or they will be returned !!!
Sender's First Name / Nearest Town
NOTE: YOU MAY ADDITIONALLY INCLUDE A LOCATION TO MEET OR PICKUP,
BUT YOUR LOCATION IS REQUIRED IN ANY CASE. Simply saying "for collection in Town" is NOT sufficient. Your location, and the collection location may not be the same place. If selling an item from a location different from where you reside, you must include both.
For example: "...Buyer collects in Nerja, John/Malaga"
Why? DigameXtra covers a large area. So, for example, readers in Motril are unlikely to make recommendations, or call about most for-sale items, if they know you are located in Coin. As for including both locations in for-sale posts, the buyer needs to know where to collect the item, but they will also want to know where you are from in case there is a problem. Your cooperation is appreciated.

Natterbox: Hi Digamites!
I hope you are enjoying being in Spain, whether resident full-time or a short-term visitor, and that life has returned to some ‘normality’….whatever that may be!….for you.
Three years ago, I set up a group called ‘Natterbox’ which I described as ‘a short cut to friendship’ (Just to clarify, as there were a couple of misunderstandings last time I posted this- Natterbox is not a dating group). Given what has been happening to us in that time, I am very pleased to say that Natterbox has survived, and earlier this week ten of us met up for an evening of good company & equally good conversation. However, the aftermath of the pandemic and the knock-on effect of Brexit for some of us has led to situations where we sometimes feel a bit like ‘ships in the night’, arriving in Spain just as some friends are leaving and vice versa, so it seems a good time to see if there are any more Digamites out there who would be interested in joining us.
Natterbox is an informal group to be used by members for the sole purpose of meeting up to ‘have a good old natter’. There are no regular meetings, no fixed topics or agendas, and members arrange to meet up spontaneously, in pairs or more whenever the fancy takes them. So, if for instance you arrive in Spain only to find that few of your existing friends are around at that moment, you would be able to contact people in the Natterbox WhatsApp group to see if they fancy a coffee or a copa! Or perhaps several people you know have decided to return to their home country, and you would like to get to know others, then this may appeal to you.
Our members are currently based between Nerja & Torrox & near surrounds, so group get-togethers are confined to either of these locations for the time being. That doesn’t preclude people living in other areas from joining but it would mean you would probably need to travel to those areas.
Please contact me if you are interested, telling me a little about yourself, including where you are based in Spain. I follow up by meeting up for a quick chat to answer any questions you might have and to make sure Natterbox is for you, before adding anyone to our contact list. I look forward to hearing from you.

SPAIN
‘Homologación’ – How Spain is ruining the careers of thousands of qualified foreigners:
– Thousands of doctors, engineers and other highly skilled foreigners are being prevented from working in their fields as they wait for years for their non-EU qualifications to be recognised by Spain’s convoluted bureaucratic system, a nightmare labelled as protectionism and “Kafkaesque”.
– Doctors, veterinarians, pharmacists, nurses, physiotherapists, optometrists, dentists, occupational therapists, psychologists, speech therapists, architects, engineers, lawyers, and more are included.
– Tens of thousands of foreigners in Spain with qualifications from non-EU countries are having their careers put on hold and their lives kept in limbo as Spain’s public administrations take two, three or four years (sometimes even longer) for their regulated qualifications to be processed.
– Regulated professions are those that require Spanish authorities to validate non-EU qualifications through the process of homologación before jobseekers can legally work in their fields.

45% of Public Employees Consume Daily Psychoactive Drugs: {Translation, summary}
– Almost half of the public employees in Spain (2.7 million people) consume anxiolytics, antidepressants and sleeping pills on a daily basis, according to a study carried out by the Central Independent Union of Civil Servants (CSIF), on the occasion of World Mental Health Day.
– The workload, the low professional and salary recognition and the bad working environment are the three main causes cited by respondents to resort to the use of psychotropic drugs, according to the ‘Survey on mental health in the workplace’ of the CSIF conducted on a sample of 2,028 public employees aged between 25 and 64 years.
– The questionnaire reveals that 34.2 % use anxiolytics or tranquillisers, 19.6 % antidepressants, 14.4 % hypnosedatives and 10.8 % other types of psychotropic drugs. Fifty-one percent confess that they use this medication on a daily basis, compared with 21% who use it “some times a month”, 15% “in the last year” and 13% “several times a week”. 76% say that work has an influence on the use of these psychoactive substances and 54.2% relate it to an excessive workload, while 44.6% link it to a lack of professional recognition. For 37.7 %, consumption is affected by the bad working environment, citing harassment at work, conflicts at work and even possible aggression. EUROPE
EU Greenies Target Tourism – European Environment Ministers Agree to Promote Transformation of European Tourism:
– Through the ministerial declaration, the delegates emphasized that the transformation of the tourism sector (by the environmentalists, who, of course, are also experts on tourism???) will be promoted by implementing targeted programs and projects.
– “The Glasgow Declaration on Climate Action in Tourism, launched by UNWTO and partners at the 2021 UN Climate Change Conference (COP26), and the Global Tourism Plastics Initiative, a joint initiative from UNWTO and UNEP were both referenced as key initiatives to help guide the transformation of the sector,” the statement issued by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) reads, SchengenVisaInfo.com reports.
– Speaking at the Ministerial Conference, State Secretary for the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Croatia, Mario Šiljeg, also emphasized the importance of tourism for European economies and the significant benefits of “embracing innovative approaches, especially moving away from traditional relations of the value chain (?), adopting more systematic circular models (?) of production and consumption.” (So “chains” are bad and “circles” are good? Could they possibly be less clear? Misguided, over reaching EU initiatives like this are one of the prime reasons there is an energy crisis. What exactly are these benefits Šiljeg refers to? What do tourism experts say about having environmentalists telling them how to do their jobs? -Ed.). Russia blasts Kyiv, other Ukrainian cities in deadly strikes:
– Russia unleashed a lethal barrage of strikes against multiple Ukrainian cities Monday, smashing civilian targets including downtown Kyiv where at least six people were killed amid burnt-out cars and shattered buildings. The onslaught brought back into focus the grim reality of war after months of easing tensions in the capital. Ukraine’s Emergency Service said a total of at least 11 people were killed and 64 were wounded in the morning attacks across Ukraine – the biggest and broadest since the early days of the war.
– Russian President Vladimir Putin said the strikes were in retaliation for what he called Kyiv’s “terrorist” actions – a reference to Ukraine’s attempts to repel Moscow’s invasion forces, including an attack last weekend on a key bridge, prized by the Kremlin, between Russia and the annexed Crimean Peninsula. (Mainstream media has yet to address 2 points in this regard, will this cause a new wave of Ukrainian refugees, and where has the peace movement gone? -Ed.) DoctorLaptop’s Tips #99
Microsoft Telemetry- The Spyware Built Into Windows, and How to Defeat It:
– Security conscious computer users take steps to keep their computers private and secure. They use privacy browsers like Brave, they use privacy search engines like DuckDuckGo and they always connect to the internet with a premium VPN.
– Yet Microsoft still collects some of your data, in a data dump sent directly from your Windows system, that bypasses all the security precautions. They share this data with their “business partners”, so it is not secure. What exactly do they collect, even after you turn off all the data collection permissions in Settings? Here is a list:
– All the text you have typed from your keyboard, every 30 minutes, including passwords.
– What type of hardware you use.
– Device driver details.
– A list of all multimedia file from your computer is also transmitted. Yes, Microsoft keeps an updated list of every song, video and movie on your hard drive!
– Microsoft gets the first 35 MB of data from your webcam every time you use it.
– Everything you say to Cortana, the digital assistant built into Windows 10. In addition to that, the service also transmits full transcription of your conversation with Cortana to Microsoft.
The article linked below, despite being 3 years old, contains several working methods of defeating this data collection. Note, if you have Windows 10 Home, the Group Policy Editor method is unavailable to you. Windows 11 users may see slightly different settings pages than the article photos show, but the methods are the same. Before doing any system modifications, be sure to create a new System Restore Point! Article: https://www.windowschimp.com/microsoft-compatibility-telemetry/
