NOTICE!
Submissions for posting in sections below
must be signed like this or they will be returned !!!
Sender's First Name / Nearest Town

NOTE: YOU MAY ADDITIONALLY INCLUDE A LOCATION TO MEET OR PICKUP,
BUT YOUR LOCATION IS REQUIRED IN ANY CASE. Simply saying "for collection in Town" is NOT sufficient. Your location, and the collection location may not be the same place.
If selling an item from a location different from where you reside, you must include both.

For example: "...Buyer collects in Nerja, John/Malaga"
Why? DigameXtra covers a large area. So, for example, readers in Motril are unlikely to make recommendations, or call about most for-sale items, if they know you are located in Coin. As for including both locations in for-sale posts, the buyer needs to know where to collect the item, but they will also want to know where you are from in case there is a problem. Your cooperation is appreciated.

SPAIN

Spain Sends 2023 Budget to EU, Projections Based On “Executive Hopes”:
– The EU monitors that Spain meets the requirements for the third payment of funds.
– The Government sent this Saturday to Brussels, at the last possible moment, the budget plan that includes the roadmap that will mark the public accounts for the next financial year.
– It’s a document in which it is once again clear that all the objectives of the Executive are based on hopes that the economic cycle will withstand the current onslaught of inflationary tensions and the energy crisis and that, in turn, this will allow the good evolution to be maintained and the resilience that the labor market has shown so far. The Bank of Spain and the Tax Authority (Airef) are less optimistic. Full article: https://spainsnews.com/the-government-assumes-before-brussels-that-in-2023-it-will-extend-the-anti-crisis-measures/

EU monitors Spain’s compliance for third installment of Recovery Funds, Bloomberg reports next payment may be halted pending compliance: {Translation, summary}
– The offices of the Ministry of Finance were fuming late on Friday afternoon. Firstly, because the cabinet headed by María Jesús Montero was finalising the submission of the 2023 budget plan to Brussels, with a deadline for this Saturday 15 October. And secondly, because of information from the Bloomberg agency, citing European Commission sources, pointing to a possible ‘standstill’ in the disbursement of European funds in view of the evidence that Spain has not fulfilled all the commitments derived from the Recovery Plan.
– Specifically, Brussels is said to have warned the government about the failure to create a mechanism to audit and control the distribution of this money. The Ministry indicates that the fact that this auditing mechanism has not yet been set up does not mean that the funds have been frozen. In fact, Spain has not even requested the next payment to Brussels, with a further 6 billion euros. Source, Spanish: https://www.canarias7.es/economia/bruselas-lanza-aviso-20221014202747-ntrc.html

MADRID

Thousands of pensioners denounce the loss of purchasing power and defend “decent” pensions and wages: {Translation, summary}
– Pensioners from different autonomous communities have demonstrated this Saturday in Madrid to demand the revaluation of pensions with respect to the annual accumulated CPI increase and a minimum pension of 60% of the average salary.
– A total of 15,000 demonstrators, according to figures from the government delegation in Madrid, marched through the streets of Madrid this midday from Plaza de Neptuno to Callao carrying banners with messages such as “Fair pension, now” or “Pension, my right”.
– The spokesman for the General Coordination of Pensioners, Leopoldo Pelayo, criticised the fact that pensioners are “constantly” losing purchasing power and that they are in an “unsustainable” situation, as they are suffering “continuous cuts” by the government.
– Among the different platforms calling the meeting are pensioners’ organisations from Galicia, Andalusia, Extremadura, the Basque Country and Madrid, as well as the Coordinadora Estatal por la Defensa del Sistema Público de Pensiones (Coespe), the Asociación Jubilación Anticipada sin Penalizar (Asjubi40) and the Confederación General del Trabajo (CGT).
The pensioners’ associations denounce the fact that while some communities are lowering taxes, such as wealth tax, minimum and non-contributory pensions are “a misery”.
– In addition to demanding the revaluation of pensions in line with the CPI, they are calling for an audit of the Social Security accounts and expressing their “rejection of the privatisation of the public pension system”. They also recall that pensions lost 3% of purchasing power in 2021 and that salaries and pensions are losing more than six points of purchasing power so far in 2022.
– “The fundamental cause of the increase in prices is not wages or pensions: it is those who, in a monopoly regime, set prices to maintain and increase their scandalous profits”, denounce the protesters.
– “We will continue on the streets until we reverse the counter-reforms that are being imposed on us, end the gender gap in wages and pensions, eliminate the penalisation of early pensions with long contribution periods, recover the rights lost in the successive labour and pension reforms, generate an equitable distribution of wealth and improve and guarantee universal and quality public and community services”, they warn. USA

Homeless in Paradise- 120 tent cities stain the nation’s capital:
– The marble monuments of the nation’s capital have become neighbors to abject squalor – ever-expanding tent cities that are the most disgraceful examples of a trend bedeviling Democrat-led cities around the US.
– In the past two years, homeless encampments have exploded in Washington D.C., as both the city and federal governments lifted enforcement measures during the COVID-19 pandemic – and made it a no-brainer for itinerants to lay down roots by providing for their every need, except housing.
– The camps are scattered throughout the district – both on the federal land, where unauthorized camping is technically prohibited, and in city parks, roadway underpasses, and empty lots, where it is allowed on all but private property.
– During a visit this week, The Post planned to stop by five encampments within walking distance of world-famous landmarks like the Lincoln Memorial, the Washington Monument, and the U.S. Capitol – but stumbled across three more tent cities along the way. ENERGY CRISIS

Minister Ribera accuses electricity companies of dishonest behaviour in the crisis- “They are not playing fair”: {Translation}
– The third vice-president and minister for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Change, Teresa Ribera, has accused electricity companies of certain “not very honest or deontologically correct” behaviour in the context of the energy crisis.
– “They are not playing as cleanly as they should in a situation like this. In our bill there is a lack of clarity with regard to the explanations of how they calculate certain things”, warned Ribera in an interview published this Sunday by ‘La Razón’.
– In this sense, she assured that there are behaviours of the electricity companies that the government has brought to the attention of the National Commission for Markets and Competition (CNMC) because it believes that “they should be denounced”. Among them, she regretted that “the sales representatives of certain companies, when someone calls to ask, say directly that any increase in the bill is the fault of the Government”.
– Faced with these “lies and falsehoods” that generate “noise” and “doubts” among the population, she hopes that the CNMC will check “whether the rules that the government has approved are applied properly”.
– Ribera recalled that the government’s contingency plan aims to “channel savings among all Spanish actors, from large industry and SMEs to citizens and administrations”. “We do not want there to be any risk of an increase in energy poverty for families and the productive sectors”, she said.
– In this context, she expects “European solutions that allow for a drastic reduction in the price of gas”, so that the need to support families “will be less because bills will be more contained and, therefore, the need for support will be lower”.
– She also ruled out the recommendations of the package of energy saving measures becoming personal obligations. “It allows us to channel savings, it allows us to call on families and social actors to be responsible in their energy consumption, but in no way can we enter into something that would be very complex to articulate, which is to monitor each citizen, each person, with regard to their energy consumption. That would be madness”, he said. (This “madness” is precisely what the World Economic Forum has repeatedly stated is their intention. All individuals will be tracked for their “carbon generation and ecological footprint” and pay new taxes accordingly, by 2030, if the WEF has its way. -Ed.)
– She also added that although “the situation in Europe is complicated, in Spain we will not have to reach the levels of rationing that the countries of central Europe will probably have to deal with”.
