Vetiver Spain in Sayalonga is now fully open!
We have started to receive clients but by appointment only. It is wonderful to finally be able to have visitors! We are of course following the legal guidelines regarding masks and social distancing.
The summer is a great time to plant Vetiver as this plant is indigenous to India. Vetiver loves the heat of summer to grow. Vetiver is often used as a wind barrier in the fall and winter months. Vetiver is the best plant to stabilise erosion prone locations before the first fall rains come. We have plenty of plants in stock for either pickup or delivery via the Spanish Correos.
It is always a great way to spend a day in the garden.
We also have Moringa seeds, Lemon Grass, Moringa seedlings and now our new product, Organic Moringa Powder. If you do not know the medicinal powers of Moringa you can check it out here. https://www.vetiverspain.org/moringa-oleifera-.html
This month we have some specials for both pickup and shipments.

Recommendations & Requests

Information: Help!. On June 17th of 2019 against my better judgement I engaged the services of an abogado to exchange my wife and I’s driving licenses from UK to Spanish, 14 months later we are still waiting. When we started the process it was intimated by the person whom we were dealing with that they had a contact at Trifico. We have since found out this person is actually a driving instructor not employed by Trafico, he submits the applications on behalf of the abogado. Now for the interesting bit we live in a small mountain village east of Malaga and a car is essential not a luxury as we have no efficient bus service, my driving license runs out at the beginning of November 2020 and at 73 I really don’t want to have to take a Spanish driving test, trying to contact Trafico is excuse the pun “a non starter” and all we get from the abogado is we can only hope and keep our fingers crossed. We have no paperwork whatsoever other than the receipt for our payment to the abogado. PLEASE can someone help me. Chris, Sedella.

BREAKING NEWS- Live Music Venues and Drinks-Only Bars on Spain’s Costa del Sol Forced to Close- Unless they Serve Food!
Live music venues, nightclubs and bars that only serve alcohol have been forced to close, sparking frustration, anger and downright resentment for the government among thousands of already struggling businesses on Spain’s Costa del Sol.
Discoteques, and there hundreds on the Costa del Sol, have also been told they must close. Some owners read the news on the internet and some saw it on Spanish TV. However they found out, it was the worst news they wanted to hear.
This will affect bars that have just karaoke too, they will have to close. A lot of people have said on social media that they were out in Benalmadena and Fuengirola and that everywhere was open as normal- don’t expect this to carry on for long as police patrols are looking out for flouters and as normal the fines will start to be handed out.

Costa del Sol pins hopes on €55 coronavirus test that could end 14-day quarantine and kick-start tourism: Travel expert Paul Charles of the PC Agency is urging the government to adopt Iceland’s airport testing scheme, subsidising the cost so passengers pay only €55.
Visitors to Iceland can book a swab test on arrival instead of going into quarantine and wasting the 14 days required for isolation. They would only need to self-isolate for five days before taking a second test, which is free this time, at a medical centre. If both tests are negative, they can then carry on as normal. In total, the quarantine could be less than seven days. Turkey could be added to UK quarantine list as country sees COVID-19 Spike: Currently, the UK has an air bridge with Turkey which does not require returning holidaymakers to quarantine for 14 days upon their return. But the problem no is that cases in the country have begun to increase in recent weeks. This has led to concerns that Turkey may follow France in being added to the quarantine list by the UK government. Whats New In Big Tech: Apple wants to connect your shirts and rugs to the internet, plus blockchain-based supply chains, robot shelves, Amazon puzzles and other patents from Big Tech.
This week saw a pretty wide range of ideas from the big companies in the U.S., but many of them seem to be focused on using digital assistants to make life a bit easier. Microsoft wants to help you remember where you put your keys; Google wants to remind you of how much you’re spending on lunch; and Apple wants you to know if you’ve cracked your windshield. All things that could take a little load off of your mind while putting some money in their corporate coffers. Full story: https://www.protocol.com/apple-connected-rug-shirts-internet-patent

In Stores, Secret Surveillance Tracks Your Every Move: As you shop, “beacons” are watching you, using hidden technology in your phone.
Imagine you are shopping in your favorite grocery store. As you approach the dairy aisle, you are sent a push notification in your phone: “10 percent off your favorite yogurt! Click here to redeem your coupon.” How did your phone know?
Your smartphone was tracking you. The grocery store got your location data and paid a shadowy group of marketers to use that information to target you with ads. Recent reports have noted how companies use data gathered from cell towers, ambient Wi-Fi, and GPS. But the location data industry has a much more precise, and unobtrusive, tool: Bluetooth beacons.
These beacons are small, inobtrusive electronic devices that are hidden throughout the grocery store; an app on your phone that communicates with them informed the company not only that you had entered the building, but that you had lingered for two minutes in front of the low-fat yogurt.
Most location services use cell towers and GPS, but these technologies have limitations. Cell towers have wide coverage, but low location accuracy: An advertiser can think you are in Walgreens, but you’re actually in McDonald’s next door. GPS, by contrast, can be accurate to a radius of around five meters (16 feet), but it does not work well indoors.
Bluetooth beacons, however, can track your location accurately from a range of inches to about 50 meters. They use little energy, and they work well indoors. That has made them popular among companies that want precise tracking inside a store.
Beacons are placed at airports, malls, subways, buses, taxis, sporting arenas, gyms, hotels, hospitals, music festivals, cinemas and museums, and even on billboards.
In order to track you or trigger an action like a coupon or message to your phone, companies need you to install an app on your phone that will recognize the beacon in the store. Retailers (like Target and Walmart) that use Bluetooth beacons typically build tracking into their own apps.

Brexit Hotline

The Spanish government has a hotline to answer all queries from Brits living in Spain about the implications of Brexit, in English. Callers can ring 060 when in Spain or +34 902 887060 if calling from abroad and an automated system will offer the choice of either Spanish or English.
You will then be offered a choice of information on the different issues.
The service also offers the option of speaking to an operator for those requiring further information or with a specific query not dealt with by the automated options. Source: https://www.thelocal.es/20200218/spain-launches-dedicated-brexit-hotline
