Andalusia adds 13 deaths from COVID, the lowest figure since November 1: {Translated from https://sevilla.abc.es}
Updated: 12/13/2020 19:09
Andalusia has added 13 deaths from coronavirus this Sunday , the lowest figure since November 1, when 12 deaths were recorded. Thus, the community is also slowly reducing the number of fatalities from the Covid pandemic.
Most of the deaths today have been registered in Cádiz (six) and Jaén (three). In Almería there have been two and in Malaga, one, as in Córdoba. There have been no fatalities in Granada, Huelva and Seville.
The infections , meanwhile, remain around a thousand. This Sunday there are 1,053 new cases registered, which represents an average of 804 daily cases this week . The last one, it should be remembered, there were more than 900 each day on average and the previous one they passed 1,900.
By provinces, Córdoba (173) and Seville (171) are the areas with the most cases this Sunday. They are followed by Cádiz (157); Malaga (154); Jaen (135); Granada (115); Huelva (101); and Almería (47 new infections).
The hospitalized go down
Those hospitalized for coronavirus in Andalusia, as a result of this drop in new cases, continues to decline. Thus, the community has this Sunday 1,329 people admitted for
Covid-19, 89 less than yesterday. This also means that Andalusia already has 60 percent fewer patients hospitalized for the pandemic than those it had at the peak of the second wave, on November 10, when there were 3,478.
In the ICU there is also good news. The Andalusians admitted to intensive care are today 301, on the verge of breaking the ground of 300, something that was not seen in Andalusia since the end of October.
In line with this Sunday’s data, the President of the Board, Juanma Moreno, stressed that “in a month, Andalusia has gone from the maximum incidence peak to being below the average, reducing hospitalized patients by 2,000 and improving situation of the 8 provinces. In Malaga, one out of every four Covid-related deaths has been a resident in a care home: Figures show that 26% of deaths in Malaga province were elderly people who lived in care homes and most were infected by asymptomatic workers. Of the deaths registered in the province up to 24 November, 26.8 per cent were residents of these homes. The health authorities have announced 161 such deaths, but the lack of testing carried out in the early months of the pandemic means the real figure is certainly higher. The figure is even more startling when you look at the percentage of deaths among the over-65s: they account for 87.9 per cent of all Covid-related deaths in Andalucía. Most of these victims (73.2 per cent) were aged over 75. Full article:

Brexit talks have been extended again but what does that mean?: The UK and the EU have agreed to continue negotiations over a post-Brexit trade deal, tearing up Sunday’s artificial deadline and promising to “go the extra mile” in an attempt to reach an agreement.
However, Boris Johnson has said that a no-deal scenario is still the “most likely” outcome, with the two sides deadlocked over the key issues of fishing rights and competition rules.
The extension to talks was announced following a phone call on Sunday morning between Mr Johnson and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
And although the pair did not publicly set a new deadline to reach an agreement, one date looms above all else: December 31, only 18 days away, when the transition period ends and Britain completes its Brexit transformation — deal or no-deal. So what happens now? Full article: https://www.standard.co.uk/news/politics/brexit-talks-deadline-extended-b290876.html
Germany to impose stricter lockdown to battle COVID-19: Germany will close most stores from Wednesday until at least Jan. 10, cutting short the busy Christmas shopping season, as it tightens coronavirus restrictions and tries to rein in the spread of the disease, Chancellor Angela Merkel said on Sunday.
Only essential shops such as supermarkets and pharmacies, as well as banks, are to remain open from Dec. 16. Hair salons, beauty salons and tattoo parlours will also have to shut.
Schools will be closed in principle, and employers are asked to close operations or have employees work from home. The sale of fireworks will be banned ahead of New Year’s Eve. Private gatherings will remain limited to no more than five people from two households. For the Christmas holidays, the rule will be eased slightly so that families can celebrate together.
Germany has been in partial lockdown for six weeks, with bars and restaurants closed, while stores and schools have remained open. Full article: https://www.reuters.com/article/us-health-coronavirus-germany/germany-to-impose-stricter-lockdown-to-battle-covid-19-idUSKBN28N068?il=0
