Recommendation for Yfke’s Bar: After seeing it mentioned in Mondays edition of Digamextra we decided to visit Yfkes’ Bar, Torrox Costa. Accessed from the promenade it is tucked away third business along the alleyway at the side of the Chinese clothes shop at Costa Del Oro (shortly before the hotel). We were made very welcome by the Dutch hosts and prices were very good. We didn’t eat but the menu had interesting choices you won’t see in many bars such as Dutch Herring. The owners deserve to be successful and we will be back soon – when we will definitely try that herring! Brenda, Torrox, brendaleetorrox AT gmail d0T com

SPAIN

Spanish PM announces that face masks will ‘soon’ not be mandatory outdoors: Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez on Wednesday expressed his confidence that “we will soon drop the use of face masks” while outside now that the country’s Covid-19 vaccination campaign has reached “cruising speed”.
Many health experts have been calling for an end to mask-wearing outdoors for some time now, given that there is no evidence that their use when there are no crowds is effective. In order for their compulsory use to be eliminated, the government will have to approve a royal decree in the Congress of Deputies. DGT Brings In New Beacons From July 1 To Replace Emergency Triangles: The General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) has been reminding drivers for months to change the emergency triangles for the V-16 light beacons, and now, on July 1, the beacons will finally become authorised as fully legal to use on the road.
As the DGT brings in these beacons, it has assured that no fines will be issued for failing to comply with using them, not until 2026, but they do recommend drivers to purchase the beacon – which costs between €20 and €30 each – as they are more convenient to use and to transport, than the triangles, and of course, if you have no beacon then you must use the triangles. Brussels approves the recovery plan, which will allow the immediate arrival of more than 9,000 million: The European Commission has announced that it has given its approval of the recovery plan for the Spanish economy, also coinciding with the official visit to Madrid of the president of the community executive Ursula von der Leyen.
The fact that the plan presented by Spain was one of the first to be approved reveals the extent to which the Commission is concerned about the fragility of the Spanish economy, the fourth most important in the euro zone and capable of having systemic negative effects over the rest of the countries. MALAGA

Malaga cancels its first district fairs- Campanillas, Teatinos, El Palo, plus info on other fairs: {Translation} Updated: 16 June, 2021 – 18:42
-Malaga begins to suspend its first district fairs. While waiting to see what finally happens with the Feria de Agosto, whose celebration is still hanging by a thread, the Town Hall considers the festivities planned for the first week of July in Campanillas to be cancelled.
-This has been confirmed to this newspaper by municipal sources, who have specified that the decision has been taken “unanimously” in the framework of a meeting held this Tuesday in which the groups of the district participated. What is going to be organised is a kind of event in homage to the Virgen del Carmen.
-Unless there is a major surprise and a sudden change in the evolution of the pandemic in recent weeks in the capital of the Costa del Sol, with a continued rise in the incidence rate, what has happened in Campanillas is going to spread to many other districts.
-In fact, other municipal sources have also confirmed that there will also be no fair in Teatinos, also scheduled for the middle of next month. Before these two events, the pandemic also hit the celebrations in Churriana last May.
-The situation is the same in the case of the traditional celebrations in the eastern part of the town, set around the feast of the Virgen del Carmen. In this case, as confirmed by the district councillor, Carlos Conde, there will be no fairs either. On the other hand, work has been underway for weeks on the organisation of around a hundred small-scale activities, to be held throughout July, and designed for a variety of audiences.
-In the case of the western part of the city, in Carretera de Cádiz, the seafaring festivities are also being reformulated. As explained by the district councillor, Luis Verde, they are thinking of a different format as a consequence of Covid, so that the space in the Huelin park will be extended, allowing a greater separation between the attendees. In addition to this, there will be actions throughout the week. Source, Spanish: https://www.malagahoy.es/malaga/Malaga-cancela-ferias-distrito-Campanillas-Teatinos_0_1583843558.html

Police smash theft gang and warn of ‘ghost’ technique of breaking into properties: After several months of investigations, officers from the specialist robbery unit of the National Police have made arrests and broken up a gang of thieves that was breaking into properties without leaving any trace of how they had gained access.
The break-in technique used by this group consists of inserting a key made from  malleable aluminium sheets into the lock, which when slightly turned from side to side copied the notches and marks of the original key. From this they made a master key that allowed them to open the door without leaving any trace that the lock had been forced, because, in reality, it hadn’t. Photo:SUR. Full article:

GRANADA

Motril will celebrate the night of San Juan with the beaches open, but no bonfires: {Translation, summary}
-This year 2021 the beaches will be open again, “but under no circumstances can any activity be carried out that incites people to socialise in an uninhibited manner and endangers people’s safety, due to Covid, at the start of the high season”, explained the Mayor, Luisa María García Chamorro.
-Chamorro insisted that, from a predetermined time, no sunshades, awnings or any other type of structure may be set up. Nor may barbecues be set up on the night of San Juan and, much less, any kind of bonfire.
-In relation to this, the Deputy Mayor for Safety, María Ángeles Escámez, warned of the risk of the relaxation of distancing measures that occurs as a result of alcohol consumption, especially among young people, “so actions that incite this are not going to be allowed”, she said.
