The Covid infection curve is slowly starting to fall in Andalusia and is noticeable in hospitals: {Translation, condensed} Updated: 17/06/2021, 19:06
-The downward trend in the incidence of Covid in Andalusia continues, although it is evolving very slowly. The accumulated infection rate in the last 14 days has fallen to 177 cases per hundred thousand inhabitants and the 7-day rate to 77 cases. The estimates of the committee of experts advising the Junta considered that in this period this indicator should be below 100 cases.
-The number of daily infections remains high. On Thursday, the community has 1,418 new infections, a figure higher than the previous day but 109 fewer cases than on the same day last week. The statistics today show 9 deaths due to Covid, which is less than the 15 deaths on Thursday last week.
-The number of cured positives is very similar to the number of infections, with 1,428 confirmed cases in the last 24 hours. Of the 604,213 Andalusians who have been infected with the coronavirus, 575,469 have overcome the disease.
-Today, the number of patients admitted to hospital has dropped significantly. In total there are 674 Covid patients in Andalusian hospitals, 145 of whom are in ICU; eleven less than on Wednesday.
-The percentage of beds occupied by Covid patients is 3.79 percent and although it is at low risk levels, it is higher than the average for Spain (2.5). The same is not true of the ICUs, with an occupancy rate of 7.9, just over one point below the national average. Torrox To Host Two Important Off-Road Motor-Sport Events: Torrox is getting set to host the third round of the Campeonato Extremo de Andalucía CAEX 4×4 2021 which will be held on September 18 and September 19 as reported the Málaga Motor Magazine.
The September dates are set to be extremely busy though as the same circuit will be used for the third meeting of the season for the Iberian King. This event will be organised by the Club Torrox Extremo and Club Deportivo Team Zapatito 4×4, and it will take place on September 17, 18 and 19. Video Link. Britain Daily Covid cases hit 11,007: This is the highest figure since February – as infections and hospitalisations spike by nearly 50% in a week amid rapid spread of Indian variant – despite signs outbreak may be slowing down.
Department of Health bosses posted 11,007 positive tests, up 48.9 per cent on last Thursday’s figure of 7,393 and the highest daily total since February 19 (12,027).
Coronavirus hospitalisations also spiked by 45 per cent in the space of the week, with the outbreak now starting to put pressure back on some parts of the NHS where the mutant strain is spreading quickest. There were 222 Covid admissions on Sunday — the latest day data is available for — up from 153 the previous week.
Meanwhile, deaths have more than doubled in a week, with 19 victims today compared to seven last Thursday.

Tennis News- Naomi Osaka has withdrawn from next month’s Wimbledon tennis championships: The world no.2 is continuing her break from the sport, but has vowed to return in time for the Olympic Games in Tokyo.
Osaka withdrew from the French Open after her first round win over Patricia Maria Tig. She had wanted to skip press conferences at Roland-Garros.
When Grand Slam organisers fined her $15,000 and threatened her with expulsion, the 23-year old pulled out of the competition revealing a three-year battle with depression.
On Thursday evening, a statement read: “Naomi won’t be playing Wimbledon this year. She is taking some personal time with friends and family. She will be ready for the Olympics and is excited to play in front of her home fans.”
