Golden Leaves Funeral Plans:
Pre-planning your funeral is a thoughtful and responsible way to show you care about your family.
Funerals are no easy task. There are numerous considerations to factor in, including logistics, food and drink, casket purchase and burial grounds. A loved one’s death brings immense emotional strain to any family, and the question of financing and arrangements only exacerbates the stress.
Handling all of these challenges is difficult enough in one’s normal circumstances, but having to go through it while abroad is an enormous burden.
Golden Leaves Funeral Plans aims to support grieving families during these tumultuous times. Since our inception in 1984, we have partnered with a widespread network of funeral directors across the UK and Europe.
Purchasing a funeral plan with Golden Leaves enables you to plan, design and pay for your funeral services in advance.
As one of the leading providers of expat prepaid funeral plans in Spain, Portugal, Cyprus, Balearic Islands, and the Canary Islands, we make sure to adequately support your family in the time of greatest need.
If you are an expat family in need of prepaid funeral services please contact Ruth on phone or whats app + 34 693 715 718

Vetiver Spain in Sayalonga is now fully open!
We have started to receive clients but by appointment only. It is wonderful to finally be able to have visitors! We are of course following the legal guidelines regarding masks and social distancing.
The summer is a great time to plant Vetiver as this plant is indigenous to India. Vetiver loves the heat of summer to grow. Vetiver is often used as a wind barrier in the fall and winter months. Vetiver is the best plant to stabilise erosion prone locations before the first fall rains come. We have plenty of plants in stock for either pickup or delivery via the Spanish Correos.
It is always a great way to spend a day in the garden.
We also have Moringa seeds, Lemon Grass, Moringa seedlings and now our new product, Organic Moringa Powder. If you do not know the medicinal powers of Moringa you can check it out here. https://www.vetiverspain.org/moringa-oleifera-.html
This month we have some specials for both pickup and shipments.

Thanks for all the replies regarding vacuum bags: Those bags on Amazon that a few readers suggested just don’t look like the right ones. However, I believe I can get them now thanks to reader M.S. Cheers! Naythan, Torrox Costa, doctorlaptop At protonmail d0T com
Beach Smokers: I want to reply to your comment on banning smoking on some beaches. I fully support providing outdoor space for the majority, non smokers. Since the ban on smoking indoors, some outdoor terraces have become almost no-go areas in summer for people who find smoke offensive, or like my husband, have an allergy to it. And yes, it does matter outdoors, it still makes him wheeze, in extremis need his inhaler, and, for the rest of us, it still stinks to be blunt.
Astonishes me that smokers demand their right to smoke but ignore the rights of others to not inhale their smoke. Simply asking for a table away from a group of smokers causes offense at times it seems. Surely it is fair that there is space for everyone?
Even here in Spain where smoking still appears popular only 25% of the population smokes. So it would seem reasonable that smoking outdoors is not completely banned but that smoke free outdoor areas are provided and enforced. And that is what they are doing, not banning smoking but providing smoke free areas.
As for tourists coming for cheap booze and cigarettes, perhaps Spain could aspire to more sophisticated tourism?
On a totally different subject have a look at vacuumcleanerbags.co.uk, we had an excellent service from them a while ago and I see they are still there, still deliver and have a wide range of bags.
Regards, Margaret , Benajarafe
(That 25% number is an ES gov’t stat from http://www.statista.com. Many sources place this figure higher, at 34% of Spanish citizens smoke daily, see link below comment. None of these numbers include the Spanish that only smoke socially which is significant, or the 83 million annual tourists, many of whom do smoke, that pack the social areas, tourists we so desperately need in these Covid times that are crushing our local businesses. I suspect the ratio of smokers to total bar/cafe patrons is closer to 50%, especially in nightclubs. Besides, this does not seem like a good time to start adding restrictions to already crippled businesses. Bars are still recovering from the loss of income due to no indoor smoking rules. Now you want half of their terraces too? Ask any bartender what eliminating smokers from their customer base would do to their bottom line. That said, I certainly welcome all comments on the matter. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. But if you want to quote statistics please provide a source; unsourced “facts” are meaningless. -Ed. https://www.nationmaster.com/country-info/stats/Health/Tobacco/Total-adult-smokers)
Beach Smokers: As long as smokers continue to receive treatment for smoking related ailments in social medicine facilities that non-smokers help pay for, then I say smokers have no room to complain if non-smokers want some beach space free of that nasty habit. Al in Mijas, zebracorn at post dot com
Beach Smokers: It seems to me that the social distancing required on beaches, 2m I believe, should be sufficient to prevent nonsmokers from any discomfort. No reason to waste money on new signs, barriers, and enforcement workers for nonsmoking beach areas when they cant even enforce the mask regulations in town. It sounds good and politically correct and the creator will probably get a promotion but I suspect it will turn out to be another deadend project. We have far more important things to focus on now. Talkspace Scandal: A recent report in the New York Times outlines claims made by former employees of the therapy app Talkspace, who allege that the company listened in on users’ private conversations with therapists and used burner mobile phones to leave fake positive reviews for the app in various mobile app stores.
Former employees and therapists who worked with patients through the app allege that the company reviewed anonymized conversations with clients. But there are indications that the transcripts were not completely anonymized, for example, one therapist claims she suggested resources to a patient outside of the app, after which Talkspace contacted her suggesting she advise clients to continue using Talkspace. Uptick in Remote Working Puts Pressure on Laptop Supplies: COVID-19 has impacted the supply of laptops in several ways. First, factories in China, where most of the world’s laptops are made, suffered serious disruption earlier in the year as the nation grappled to contain the virus at the start of the outbreak. (…and a second outbreak in port and manufacturing cities since this article was published extended the disruption in China. -Ed.)
Second, COVID-19 has prompted numerous companies around the world to ask office staff to work from home, with some firms having to purchase additional laptops to make it possible. Many home workers have had to replace their old, low spec home laptops with new, more powerful models.

Perseids 2020- The meteor shower, also known as the Tears of St Lawrence, will soon be at its peak: The phenomenon is named after Lawrence, a Christian saint who died on 10 August, but this year it will be most visible on the night of 12th-13th. The Perseids are minute particles of ice and dust from comets, and they create this spectacular shooting star effect as they pass through the Earth’s atmosphere.
