Halting Erosion using Vetiver:
From Vetiver Spain in Sayalonga
Our Nursery is open by appointment. Please email or call first. We have Moringa seedlings, Organic Moringa powder and Comfrey plants. We also have some local trees and some exotic trees from Africa.
Vetiver is a rapid growing and non-invasive sterile clump grass with a height of 1-2 metres and a root system of 3-4 metres in depth. We have been providing Vetiver throughout the EU for almost 10 years now. We are located in Sayalonga where we can plant year round but our best results by far start in February. The reason is that Vetiver is indigenous to India and Vetiver loves the heat of the summer. Use Vetiver cuttings as mulch around all of your fruit trees. Decomposing Vetiver improves soil quality, keeps the weeds down and the insects away all while helping to maintain soil moisture.
Vetiver is a nutritious and replenishable animal fodder. Horses and pigs love it. We use it in our chicken pens replacing hay because it stops mites.
In the 2 photos below you will see land prepared for Vetiver and the results 2 years later.
We also use Vetiver along driveways and sidewalks. It also makes a great and inexpensive ornamental hedge.
Here is a link to a short video showing the results.
https://youtu.be/rjTmb_LL2uo
We suggest planting now, as this is the BEST time of the year to plant.

2022 AACC – Association of [those] Affected by the Car Cartel:
Does anyone have any experience – hopefully positive – of making a claim for recovery of part of the cost of a new car through this organisation? For those who are unaware of the background to this, the Competition Chamber of the Council of the National Commission for Markets and Competition (CNMC) in Spain found that car makers had formed a cartel which operated from 2006 to 2013. The cartel had the effect of controlling the market and thus inflating prices. AACC claims that it may be possible for them to recover between 11 and 15% of the purchase price of a car bought between 2006 and 2013.

SPAIN

Easy Come, Easy Go- Brussels Warning To Spain About EU Recovery Funds: {Translation}
-Brussels is warning- the times of the free bar for public spending are coming to an end. As are the times for the expansion of economic aid to alleviate the consequences of the pandemic. The escape clause that keeps the Stability and Growth Pact in abeyance will be activated throughout 2022. But in 2023 the pact, which is already being renegotiated, will be recovered, and it remains to be seen how the debt and deficit ceilings, which now stand at 60% and 3% of GDP, will be adjusted.
-France, Spain and Italy are in favour of making the pact more flexible, while the northern countries, as evidenced on Monday in Madrid with the German chancellor, Olaf Scholz, do not seem very much in favour.
– In any case, Brussels is already calling for an end to the expansionary phase. “We expect economic growth to continue this year and next. Consequently, the conditions are in place to gradually withdraw the support measures,” said the European Commission’s economic vice-president, Valdis Dombrovskis, after meeting with the finance ministers of the 27 (Ecofin).
– “The Commission has not called for a withdrawal of the measures,” Calviño said on Monday night after the Eurogroup, “but rather for them to be progressively focused more and more on those sectors and those companies that really need them. In short, that they adapt to the evolution of the pandemic, which is what we have been doing”.
-With regard to the debate on fiscal rules, which is open and pending agreement among the 27 to renew the Stability and Growth Pact, now on hold until 2023, Calviño explained: “I see a great willingness on the part of all the Member States to find a basis that can serve to achieve the great consensus that we all want. There has been an enormous openness on the part of all member states to improve the procedures and functioning of these rules, to make them more transparent, simpler, more understandable and easier to communicate. There has been a repeated reference to the need to have rules that are adapted to the specific situation of the different countries and that there is a reinforcement of the appropriation of these rules by the population of the Member States in the future”.
-The economic vice-president believes that the debate “is not yet ripe on the details. We are in a phase of preliminary debate in which what I do note is the constructive and open attitude of all the member states to tackle a revision of the rules that we all see as necessary to respond in a practical way to the changes that have occurred in response to the pandemic, among other reasons”. Those affected by the chaos with the delay of millions of electricity bills since July will be able to split payments: The National Markets and Competition Commission (CNMC) clarifies that consumers affected by the chaos in electricity billing, which has caused delays in the issuance of millions of bills since July, “have the right to split the payment” in monthly payments for as many months as they have been without receiving the invoice.
In July, the new system of hourly invoicing by sections came into force and since then several electricity distributors are not sending the data of their clients’ consumption readings to the marketers. This situation, recalls the CNMC, impacts the marketers, who cannot issue the final invoices, and their clients, who accumulate several months without paying. Medical negligence on the rise in the Spanish health system: Of the 13,000 cases of alleged negligence reported to the Patient Ombudsman in Spain in 2021, some 628 ended in the death of a patient a report has found.
-Some of these were the result of “diagnostic error and the loss of therapeutic opportunity.” Others were caused by “poorly performed interventions, hasty discharges, poor care, hospital infections and ambulance delays” including 34 people who died “after notifying 112″.
-The Ombudsman’s Report 2021, found that, “Either an ambulance was not sent to the home to transfer the patient to a hospital, or in some cases the response was late with more than an hour delay.”
-Another 38 patients died because of post-procedure infections “because the hospital did not comply with the necessary asepsis measures.” Full article: https://www.surinenglish.com/spain/medical-negligence-rise-20220118094538-nt.html

Now they want you to take out insurance to be eligible to rent a property, and will let Artificial Intelligence (AI) determine if you are worthy of renting to?:
Now more than ever there is a need for solutions that facilitate and simplify access to housing in the Spanish market, and that is precisely what Nowo is here to solve.
Nowo is the first rental guarantee, in the form of surety insurance, that the tenant hires to ensure the landlord the collection of rent, supplies and community expenses.
With Nowo, the tenant will be able to prove their solvency to the landlord from the first contact, thanks to their free solvency certificate.
An algorithm with ‘machine learning’ (AI) crosses hundreds of databases to determine the degree of solvency of a tenant. Gone are the payrolls, letters of recommendation, bank guarantees and all the paperwork that lengthens and hinders access to a home. Also gone are landlord’s fears and concerns of non-payment. (Also gone is any degree of privacy as your finances, credit history and employment records become publicly available should you use this service. -Ed.)
